About Dayne Hutchinson, Ph.D.

Dayne Hutchinson, Ph.D.

Dr. Dayne Hutchinson is a leader, advocate, scholar, consultant and keynote speaker, focusing on helping organizations, institutions, and people identify, attain, and surpass their goals. An experienced, and established Higher Education Educator, Facilitator, and Administrator, Dr. Hutchinson is passionate about equity and inclusion, community access, mentorship and people’s individual happiness and success.

Dr. Hutchinson is the proud son of immigrants – the first in his family to attend college and earn a degree. Born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, and spending the most formative years of his life there, Dr. Hutchinson recognizes the profound impact Jamaica had on his life. Jamaica’s streets refined him. Her indigence bred his ambitions, and her belligerence taught him work ethic, the value of people, but most importantly, the value of authenticity. Out of this environment he learned the meaning of hardship, and what it meant to lack access, and ultimately gained awareness of its foundations.

These lessons were instrumental in the development of Dr. Hutchinson’s identity, and underscores the work that he does as an advocate for radical social change, equity, and inclusion.

Currently, Dr. Hutchinson serves as the Assistant Vice President for Student Engagement and Success at American University in Washington DC and faculty member at Nova Southeastern University, Abraham S. Fischler College of Education and School of Criminal Justice. Dr. Hutchinson earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Social Sciences from Florida State University. Masters of Arts in Student Affairs, and his Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration both from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
